A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS; WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
Sustainability is a word that is overused in the everyday, but to be sustainable in business, really sustainable, is tough.
At Feasted, we are proud to be a business with sustainability at the forefront of everything we do. To be truly sustainable is always going to be hard, as there are so many different things to consider, but we work to be more sustainable, constantly moving, learning, and growing in every single thing we do.
We are making plans for a pledge for next year and beyond, but in the meantime, there is plenty going on behind the scenes, with us squirrelling away to make Feasted as sustainable as it can be.
Here are some of the things we do in the business…
WASTE PLANNING
We plan out our waste with everything that we create and how it can be given a new lease of life when we have taken what we need. We work with other local artisans and creatives to see our waste put to good use. It is made into natural dyes or fermented products, and what we cannot reuse, we recycle. COMPOSTING AND RECYCLING
As we mentioned, we recycle what we cannot use, and we have a composting station as part of our kitchen too. We are committed to creating as little ease as possible, and this is factored into our purchasing, too. By this, we mean that we buy from artisans and creators with a similar ethos and morals to us, with minimal single-use plastic and supporting other sustainability-focused businesses.
COMMUNITY ACTION
We work with a number of local community organisations, and have done so through the pandemic, to bring food and knowledge to people who may otherwise go without. Sustainability isn’t just about the planet, it is about taking care of the people on it too, and we are so passionate about that. From recipe bags to make at home, to meals for those who need them, packed with nutrients and goodness, people will always be at the forefront of what we do and how we aim to be more sustainable as a business.
LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
We are always learning. Learning and evolving, developing new ways and new thinking to be more sustainable and more circular as a business. We want to create a brand and a business that has a positive impact on the people and the planet, using seasonal ingredients and empowering people through food and gastronomy. That will be a never-ending journey, and one we are so proud to be on.
It doesn’t end there and we are always trying to do more and do better, working with other organisations to really refine what we do. We have big plans for the future and sustainability is a huge, huge, part of that.
